What Happens During a Sick Visit?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

A sick visit is designed to address sudden or worsening symptoms that require medical attention. During the visit, our experienced pediatricians will:<\/p>

  • Review your child\u2019s symptoms and medical history<\/li>
  • Perform a focused physical examination to\u00a0 evaluate areas of concern<\/li>
  • Conduct necessary\u00a0 tests such as flu, strep, RSV,\u00a0 COVID-19 or urinalysis\u00a0<\/li>
  • Provide a diagnosis and treatment plan tailored to your child\u2019s needs

    We strive to provide prompt care and help your child recover quickly. If your child is very sick and needs hospitalization, our office can facilitate admission to Corewell Hospital (Dearborn) or Children\u2019s Hospital of Michigan.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

    Common Reasons for Acute Care & Sick Visits<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    Schedule a sick visit if your child is experiencing:<\/p>

    • Fever, chills, or unexplained fatigue<\/li>
    • Sore throat, cough, congestion, or ear pain<\/li>
    • Vomiting, diarrhea, or dehydration symptoms<\/li>
    • Skin rashes, allergic reactions, or insect bites<\/li>
    • Minor injuries, cuts, or sprains<\/li>
    • Any sudden or concerning changes in health

      If your child\u2019s symptoms are severe or life-threatening, seek emergency medical attention immediately. Here are some examples:<\/p>

      • Newborns with a fever (temperature over 100.4 F or 38 C), especially if under 21 days old, if they are very sleepy (lethargic) or excessively fussy and inconsolable<\/li>
      • Chest pain<\/li>
      • Severe difficulty in breathing<\/li>
      • Intractable vomiting and\/or diarrhea<\/li>
      • Severe abdominal pain<\/li>
      • Seizures<\/li>
      • Altered mental status<\/li>
      • Neurologic deficits (such as weakness or slurred speech)<\/li>
      • Severe headaches<\/li>
