Routine Well-Child Visits

At Thrive Pediatrics, your child’s health and development are our top priority. Regular Well-Child Visits are essential for monitoring growth, ensuring developmental milestones are met, and addressing any concerns early. These visits help build a strong foundation for lifelong health and well-being.

What Happens During a Well-Child Visit?

Well-child visits are comprehensive checkups designed to support your child’s health at every stage of development. During your child’s visit, we will:

  • Track growth and development 
  • Perform a complete physical exam 
  • Provide immunizations as recommended by the CDC and AAP
  • Conduct vision and hearing screenings at recommended intervals
  • Conduct age-specific screening to evaluate for autism and mental well-being
  • Perform age-specific laboratory tests to check for anemia, abnormal lead levels or cholesterol levels
  • Discuss nutrition and healthy habits 
  • Address any health concerns
  • Discuss oral health and apply fluoride varnish at recommended intervals

 

How Often Should My Child Have a Well-Child Visit?

Following the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) guidelines, we recommend well-child visits at the following ages:

  • Newborn visit (within the first week)
  • 1 month, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months
  • 12 months, 15 months, 18 months, 2 years, 2 ½ years
  • Annually from ages 3 to 21
